TREX TV Playlist Not Updating

New channels added on our side should appear on yours without you doing anything. When they do not, the cause is almost always a cached or downloaded copy of the playlist rather than a live URL.

Steps last verified 22 August 2026.

The usual causes

  1. You saved the M3U as a file

A downloaded .m3u file is a snapshot from the moment you saved it and will never change. Use the URL instead — see the M3U playlist guide.

  2. The player cached it

Most players cache the channel list for speed. Look for Refresh playlist, Reload channels or an update-interval setting. In TiviMate: Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Update.

  3. The registration site holds an old URL

On Samsung and LG the playlist lives on the player developer’s website against your TV’s MAC. If your URL changed, update it there — the TV only re-reads what is registered. See Samsung / LG.

  4. You hid the category

If you trimmed the channel list once, new channels landing in a hidden category will not show. Re-enable the category in the player’s channel manager.

Force a clean reload

When a refresh button does not help, remove the playlist from the player and add it again. This is faster than clearing app data and does not lose your other settings. If the player has no remove option, clear the cache — not the data — and relaunch.

Using Xtream Codes rather than a flat M3U avoids most of this. The API is queried live, so categories and new channels arrive without a manual refresh — see the Xtream Codes guide.

How long should a new channel take to appear?

On an Xtream Codes login, the next time the app fetches categories. On a cached M3U, whenever your player’s refresh interval fires.

Channels disappeared instead of appearing.

Channels are occasionally removed or renumbered. If a specific channel you rely on has gone, ask support before assuming a fault.

My playlist URL stopped working entirely.

That is a credentials or subscription issue, not a caching one — see app login failure.
