Samsung TV setup
TREX TV Setup on a Samsung Smart TV
Samsung televisions run Tizen, which does not allow sideloading. You therefore use a Tizen player from Samsung's own store and register your playlist against the TV's MAC address. It is a genuinely different process from Android — read this before you buy anything.
Steps last verified 22 August 2026.
Before you start. Your TREX TV line details — server URL, username and password — are sent to you on WhatsApp or Telegram the moment your free 24-hour trial or paid plan is activated. Keep that message: every app on this page needs the same three values. If you have lost it, message support on WhatsApp and we will resend it.
What you need
- A Samsung Smart TV running Tizen 4.0 or newer (2018 models onward)
- A Tizen playlist player from the Samsung App Store
- Your TREX TV M3U URL — see the M3U playlist guide
Set expectations honestly. The Tizen players in Samsung's store are third-party products. Most are free for a trial period and then charge a small one-off activation fee to their own developer, not to TREX TV. We cannot waive, refund or support that fee.
Installing on Samsung Tizen
- Install a playlist player
Open Apps on the TV, search for a playlist player that supports M3U or Xtream Codes, and install it. Widely used options on Tizen include IBO Player, Smart IPTV and Set IPTV.
- Note the MAC address the app shows
On first launch the app displays a MAC address and a web address. Write both down — the MAC identifies your TV.
- Upload your playlist on the app's website
On a phone or computer, open the address the app showed, enter the MAC, and paste your TREX TV M3U URL. Save.
- Restart the app
Close the app fully and reopen it. The channel list loads from the URL you registered. It will refresh on each launch, so a playlist change on our side reaches your TV without you doing anything.
- Add the guide
If the player has a separate EPG field, use the EPG URL from your activation message. EPG not loading covers what to do when the guide stays empty.
Which Samsung TVs work
| Model year | Tizen | Works |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 and newer | 4.0+ | Yes |
| 2016–2017 | 2.4–3.0 | Some players only |
| 2015 and older | Tizen 2.3 / Orsay | No current player |
On a 2015-or-older Samsung the practical answer is a cheap Android or Fire TV device in a spare HDMI port. It will outperform the TV's own apps and gets you the full Firestick or Android TV route.
Questions about this device
Can I install the TREX TV APK on a Samsung TV?
No. Tizen does not run Android apps and Samsung does not permit sideloading on retail sets. Anyone telling you otherwise is describing a different device.
Do I have to pay the app developer?
Most Tizen playlist players charge a small one-off fee after a trial. That is between you and that developer. Your TREX TV subscription is unaffected either way.
My playlist stopped after I changed my router.
The registration is tied to the TV's MAC address, which does not change with a router swap. If the TV was factory-reset, though, re-register it on the player's website.
Can I use Xtream Codes instead of M3U?
Some Tizen players support it. If yours does, use the Xtream Codes details instead — it gives a better guide and catch-up experience than a flat M3U file.
