How to Clear an IPTV App Cache Safely
Clearing the cache removes temporary files and keeps your login. Clearing the data wipes everything, including your credentials. Players and TV interfaces put these two buttons side by side, which is why people lose their setup.
Steps last verified 22 August 2026.
The one rule. Clear cache first, always. Only clear data if clearing cache did not help, and only when you have your server URL, username and password to hand.
Where the buttons are
| Device | Path | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Firestick / Fire TV | Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → the app | Clear cache is above Clear data. Read before you press. |
| Android TV / Google TV | Settings → Apps → See all apps → the app → Storage | Same layout, same trap. |
| Android phone / tablet | Settings → Apps → the app → Storage & cache | Android 8+ separates the two clearly. |
| iPhone / iPad | No per-app cache control | Offload the app (Settings → General → iPhone Storage) or delete and reinstall. |
| Samsung / LG TV | No per-app cache control | Reinstall the player; the playlist is registered by MAC so it returns on its own. |
When clearing the cache actually helps
- The guide is half-loaded or stuck — see EPG not loading.
- Channels appear twice, or old channels linger after a playlist change — see playlist not updating.
- A low-storage device has started stalling on channel change.
- The app opens to a blank screen but the device is otherwise fine.
When it will not help
Buffering that tracks your network conditions, a single dead channel, or a login that has never worked. Those are covered by the buffering fix and login failure instead.
Related questions
Will clearing cache log me out?
It should not. Cache holds guide and image files. If a particular player does log you out, that is the player storing its session in the cache — keep your credentials to hand either way.
How often should I do it?
Only when there is a symptom. Clearing the cache routinely just forces the app to re-download the guide.
I cleared data by mistake.
