TREX TV EPG Not Loading: Fixing the TV Guide

An empty or wrong programme guide has three causes, and they produce noticeably different symptoms. Match yours to the right one rather than trying everything.

Steps last verified 22 August 2026.

Which symptom do you have?

What you seeCauseFix
Guide completely empty on every channelThe EPG source was never configured, or it is still downloadingAdd the EPG/XMLTV URL from your activation message, then wait two minutes on first launch
Guide populated but every programme is shifted by a whole number of hoursDevice time zone or player time-shift is wrongSet the device time zone correctly, and set the player’s EPG time-shift to 0
Guide correct on most channels, missing on someThose channels have no guide data in the sourceNothing to fix locally — report the channel names to support

If the guide is empty

  1. Check you used Xtream Codes, not a flat M3U

An Xtream Codes login carries the guide with it. A plain M3U does not and needs a separate XMLTV URL. If your player has an empty guide and you logged in with an M3U link, that is why — see the Xtream Codes guide.

  2. Give it time on first run

A full guide is a large file. Players download it in the background on first launch and show nothing until it finishes. Two minutes on a normal connection is typical; do not force-quit during it.

  3. Force a guide refresh

Most players have Settings → EPG → Update now or similar. In TiviMate it is Settings → EPG → Auto-update plus a manual refresh from the playlist screen.

  4. Clear only the guide cache

If a partial download got stuck, clearing the app cache resolves it. How to clear it without losing your login.

If the guide is shifted in time

This is nearly always the device clock, not the guide. Set the device to the correct time zone and to automatic network time. Only if it is still wrong afterwards should you touch the player’s own time-shift setting — setting both compounds the error and produces a guide that is wrong by twice as much.

MAG boxes are the usual offender here: Settings → System Settings → Time defaults to a zone that is rarely yours. See the MAG box guide.

How often does the guide update?

The source refreshes through the day. Your player re-downloads on whatever interval you set — every 12 hours is a sensible default and avoids a large download on every launch.

Can I get more than 7 days of guide?

How far ahead the guide runs depends on the source data for each channel. Some carry a week, some carry a day. It is not a player setting.

Catch-up does not work without a guide.

Correct — catch-up is addressed by programme, so it needs guide data to exist. See catch-up TV.
