Enigma2 setup

TREX TV Setup on an Enigma2 Receiver

Enigma2 boxes running OpenATV, OpenPLi or VTi take a TREX TV line as an Xtream Codes bouquet. The work is done over the box's web interface from a computer, not with the remote.

Steps last verified 22 August 2026.

Before you start. Your TREX TV line details — server URL, username and password — are sent to you on WhatsApp or Telegram the moment your free 24-hour trial or paid plan is activated. Keep that message: every app on this page needs the same three values. If you have lost it, message support on WhatsApp and we will resend it.

What you need

  • An Enigma2 receiver on OpenATV 6.x/7.x, OpenPLi or a comparable image
  • The box's local IP address (Menu → Information → Network)
  • Your TREX TV server URL, username and password
  • FTP or SSH access to the box — the default login on most images is root with an empty or image-specific password

Route 1 — the Xtream Codes plugin (recommended)

  1. Install the plugin

Menu → Plugins → Download plugins → Extensions and look for an Xtream Codes / IPTV bouquet plugin. Availability varies by image; OpenATV feeds carry one under Extensions.

  2. Add your line

Open the plugin and enter the server URL, username and password from your activation message. Choose to create bouquets for live TV, and optionally for the on-demand categories.

  3. Let it build the bouquets

The plugin writes bouquet files and reloads the channel list. On a large playlist this takes a couple of minutes. Do not power-cycle the box while it runs.

  4. Reload services

If channels do not appear, Menu → Standby/Restart → Restart GUI.

Route 2 — upload an M3U bouquet by FTP

  1. Get your M3U URL

See the M3U playlist guide for how the URL is built from your credentials.

  2. Convert it to a bouquet

Use any M3U-to-Enigma2 converter to produce a userbouquet.*.tv file plus a matching bouquets.tv entry.

  3. Upload over FTP

Connect to the box on port 21 and copy the files to /etc/enigma2/.

  4. Reload

Restart the GUI, or run wget -qO - http://127.0.0.1/web/servicelistreload?mode=2 over SSH.

Enigma2 images decode H.265/HEVC in software on many older boxes, which will not keep up with a 4K stream. If playback stutters on HEVC channels but SD and HD are fine, that is the cause — see hardware versus software decoding.

Questions about this device

Which image do you recommend?

OpenATV has the broadest plugin availability and the most active feeds. We support the line, not the image, so any current Enigma2 build is fine.

Can I get the EPG into the Enigma2 guide?

Yes — most Xtream Codes plugins import it, and EPGImport can pull it separately from your EPG URL. See EPG not loading if it stays blank.

Do bouquets survive a firmware flash?

No. Take a settings backup before flashing, or be ready to rebuild the bouquets afterwards.
