TREX TV Setup on Kodi

Kodi plays a TREX TV line through the bundled PVR IPTV Simple Client. No third-party repository, no build, no add-on installer — everything you need ships with Kodi.

Steps last verified 22 August 2026.

Before you start. Your TREX TV line details — server URL, username and password — are sent to you on WhatsApp or Telegram the moment your free 24-hour trial or paid plan is activated. Keep that message: every app on this page needs the same three values. If you have lost it, message support on WhatsApp and we will resend it.

What you need

  • Kodi 19 (Matrix) or newer on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or a Raspberry Pi
  • Your TREX TV M3U URL and EPG URL — see the M3U playlist guide

Kodi ships PVR IPTV Simple Client as standard. You never need a “build” or an unofficial repository to watch a playlist, and installing one is the usual reason a Kodi box becomes unstable.

Setting up PVR IPTV Simple Client

  1. Enable the client

Settings → Add-ons → My add-ons → PVR clients → PVR IPTV Simple Client and choose Enable.

  2. Point it at your playlist

Select Configure. On the General tab set Location to Remote path (Internet address) and paste your M3U URL into M3U play list URL.

  3. Add the guide

On the EPG tab set XMLTV URL to your EPG URL. Leave the cache option on so Kodi does not re-download the guide on every launch.

  4. Restart Kodi

Fully quit and relaunch. The TV entry appears on the home screen with your channel list.

  5. Set the channel-order source

Settings → PVR & Live TV → General → Synchronise channel groups with backend keeps our category order. Turn it off if you want to sort channels yourself.

Questions about this device

Do I need a Kodi build?

No, and we recommend against them. Builds bundle dozens of add-ons, break on Kodi upgrades and are the most common cause of “Kodi was working yesterday” tickets.

Does Kodi support Xtream Codes directly?

PVR IPTV Simple Client takes an M3U URL. Because the Xtream Codes API can emit an M3U, your line works either way — the M3U guide shows how the URL is built.

Kodi on a Raspberry Pi — will 4K work?

A Pi 4 decodes HEVC up to 4K30 in hardware. Older Pis will not keep up. On a Pi, prefer the HD variant of a channel where one exists.
