TREX TV Setup on Android TV

Android TV and Google TV devices — Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Sony, Philips and TCL sets — install TREX TV from a Downloader code because the app is not distributed through Google Play.

Steps last verified 22 August 2026.

Before you start. Your TREX TV line details — server URL, username and password — are sent to you on WhatsApp or Telegram the moment your free 24-hour trial or paid plan is activated. Keep that message: every app on this page needs the same three values. If you have lost it, message support on WhatsApp and we will resend it.

What you need

  • Any Android TV or Google TV device running Android TV 8 or newer
  • Downloader by AFTVnews, free in Google Play on Android TV
  • Your TREX TV server URL, username and password

Installing on Android TV

  1. Install Downloader from Google Play

Open Google Play on the TV, search Downloader and install it. On Google TV the Play Store is under your profile icon → AppsSearch for apps.

  2. Allow Downloader to install apps

Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources and turn Downloader on. On Google TV the path is Settings → System → About, click Android TV OS build seven times, then Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions.

  3. Enter the Downloader code

Open Downloader, put the cursor in the URL box, type 2892546 and press Go. That code downloads the TREX PRO installer. Codes are also listed on the download page together with each build's version and checksum.

  4. Install and open

Choose Install, then Open. Delete the APK afterwards from Downloader's file list.

  5. Sign in with your line

Open the app and choose Xtream Codes (sometimes labelled Login with Xtream Codes API). Enter the server URL, username and password from your activation message exactly as written — they are case-sensitive. Give it 10–30 seconds to pull the channel list and guide.

  6. Add it to your home row

Google TV hides sideloaded apps from the main row. Open Apps → See all apps → Show all apps, find TREX TV, and select Add to favourites.

Devices worth knowing about

DeviceNotes
Nvidia Shield TV / ProWired Ethernet, hardware HEVC decode, the most reliable Android TV box we see in tickets.
Chromecast with Google TV8 GB storage fills fast. Uninstall unused apps before sideloading.
Built-in Android TV (Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense)Works, but the TV's own Wi-Fi radio is usually the weakest link. Prefer Ethernet.
Non-certified generic boxesNo Google Play. See the Android TV box guide for the USB route.

If the picture stutters only on Android TV and not on your phone, the decoder setting is the usual cause. Hardware versus software decoding explains which to pick and why the default is wrong on some chipsets.

Questions about this device

Why is TREX TV not on Google Play?

Google Play policy does not allow general-purpose playlist players that ship pointing at a third-party subscription. Sideloading through Downloader is the normal distribution route for this class of app.

Do I have to re-install after every Android TV update?

No. System updates keep sideloaded apps. A factory reset does not.

Can I use TiviMate instead?

Yes, and many Android TV users prefer it. See the TiviMate setup guide.
