Whatever your provider, the last few metres matter more than the headline speed. If the streaming device can reach the router with a cable, use one — it removes the single largest cause of buffering reports. If it cannot, the buffering fix starts with the settings that help most.

Evening congestion is the norm, not a fault. NBN retail plans are sold with a typical evening-speed figure precisely because the busy-period number is lower than the headline. Test between 7pm and 10pm — that result is the one that matters.
Distance to the source. Australia is a long way from most content origins, and a stream crossing a submarine cable is more sensitive to packet loss than a domestic one. A wired connection to the router is worth more here than almost anywhere else.
