What a TREX TV subscription actually gives you in the United Kingdom, what your broadband needs to manage, and how to test it properly before you pay anything.
What you need in the UK
Nothing local, in fact. TREX TV is delivered over your ordinary broadband, so there is no dish, no regional box and no installer. What matters is your connection and your device, and both are things you can test for free before paying.
- Check your connection can carry it
A 4K stream wants roughly 15–25 Mbps sustained, per stream. Most British fibre and cable packages clear that comfortably; older copper connections may not at peak time. Full bandwidth figures.
- Take the free trial on the device you will actually use
24 hours, no card. Test on the living-room TV, in the evening — not on your phone at lunchtime.

Whatever your provider, the last few metres matter more than the headline speed. If the streaming device can reach the router with a cable, use one — it removes the single largest cause of buffering reports. If it cannot, the buffering fix starts with the settings that help most.
Two things UK viewers ask about
Router-level filtering. Several UK providers apply network-level content filters by default on residential lines. If a stream refuses to start on your home connection but plays on a phone hotspot, that is the pattern to suspect — the setting lives in your provider’s account portal, not on the router. Evening contention. UK peak is roughly 7–10pm, and it is when almost every buffering report we receive is generated. Test then, not at 2pm.
Billing and currency
Prices are shown and charged in US dollars. Your bank converts at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — that fee is your bank’s, not ours. Nothing renews automatically: a plan runs for the term you bought and then stops until you renew.
On content and rights. TREX TV supplies the player app and the subscription line. We make no claim to hold distribution rights for any British broadcaster, competition or studio, and we do not use their names as marketing. If a specific channel matters to you, ask before you buy and you will get a straight answer.
Questions from the UK
Do I still need a TV licence?
A TV licence is required by UK law for watching or recording live television as it is broadcast, and for BBC iPlayer, regardless of how the signal reaches you. Using TREX TV does not change that obligation, and we are not in a position to advise you on it — check the official guidance.
Will it work on a BT, Sky or Virgin line?
It is ordinary internet traffic, so yes. If a provider’s default content filter is on, that is the thing to check first.
Can I use it while travelling from the UK?
The line is not tied to a country. Your connection abroad and your plan’s connection count are the practical limits.
